Happy Sunday Y'all!
I'm sure some of you have heard that we, here in Texas, have been getting a lot of rain the past few weekends. It is an odd mix of spring and fall! Grass is coming back green but the leaves are changing. I am 100% a fall person so I am not sure how I feel about this, but I'm adjusting.
We are in the process of building a barn for our horses. We started out with a 20ft x 40ft carport. We added 8ft legs, instead of 6ft so it was taller for the horses, and then closed in the ends and one side.
We shopped around A LOT for the best price with this and ended up with an online company called Car Port One. The sales company itself it out of state but they get all their materials from Texas, this made me very happy that at least part of the profit and money was staying local(ish). They were amazing to deal with and once it was ordered, and paid for of course, it was delivered within 4 weeks and then a group of 4 guys had it put up and ready to use within 4 hours. Total cost was about $3,600.
Barn being put up. I was so excited and spying through the kitchen window! |

The plan is to divide it into 4- 10ft x 20ft stalls. Not a huge size for stalls but perfect for us. We keep our horses out in pasture as much as possible. We just want a place to stall them incase of injury and bad weather.
My little mind is rolling with the project and there are several ways to tackle it. My best idea, so far, is to use nesting channel and 2x12's, to divide the carport barn into the 4 stalls.
I will get you all an update and step by step instructions as soon as we get moving on this project aka when the rain stops!
Horses checking it out. Lovely (not pictured) was not so interested. |
